Economic Opportunities in Ventura County
 Although founded on agriculture and oil,
today Ventura County has a much more diverse economic base. While agriculture
is still a dominant player in the employment game, other modern industries make
up for the county's largest employers such as biotechnology, the health field,
telephone services and mortgage lending.
 While the Highway 101 corridor
is attracting many high-tech industries, the Port of Hueneme is importing and
exporting items such as cars and produce to and from all points around the
globe. Already the top spot for U.S. citrus exports, the Port of Hueneme
anticipates to begin shipping citrus to the massive Chinese market, which
should be opening up as early as next year. With Del Monte and Bonita brands
under its belt, the Port has earned the title of biggest banana port on the
west coast for the past four years. Now it's preparing to add Chiquita and Dole
to it's list of suppliers.
 However, by far the largest
employer in Ventura County is the government, with naval bases located in Port
Hueneme and Point Mugu and with the county government center in Ventura. Other
major employers are listed below with name of company, type of business and
approximate number of employees.

In a recent news story, it was
announced that Ventura County was among California's business growth leaders.
About 13,185 jobs were created and the cumulative annual payroll grew by more
than $859 million from year to year. Compared to other California counties,
Ventura County was the 10th-fastest growing job market with a growth rate of
5.9 percent. Compared to statewide and national statistics of 4.3 percent and 3
percent respectively, Ventura County is definitely ahead of the curve.
 This growth, which
does not include self-employed people and most government and railroad
employees, was most noted in the retail trade - manufacturing, administrative
and support services, health care, social assistance, finance and insurance.
Ventura County's cumulative annual payroll grew 12.2 percent to more than $7.9
billion. As for creating new businesses, Southern California was the hottest
area in the country.

Keep the bathroom spotless while your home is on the market. Remove any traces of mold or mildew and scour away any build-up on the bathtub and basin. Re-caulk around the tub and shower, if necessary. A new shower curtain, bath mat, plush towels and scented soap can help give the buyer one more positive reason for liking your home!
