Brian Guevara, born and raised in Santa Paula, Ventura County, graduated from Santa Paula Union High School in 1980. After receiving his high school degree, Brian was employed by Alpha Beta Grocery Stores and also became involved in a direct marketing company in which he enjoyed a degree of success.
In the interim, Brian took classes at the local college in escrow and real estate basics and became an avid reader of many real estate financing and investment publications. Then, in 1983, Brian felt ready for a change. He chose to pursue his interest in real estate and, with a borrowed real estate principles manual, began his home study. He then went on to pass the state exam.
Brian borrowed $500.00 from his grandmother and joined his first office with an independent firm by the name of American Investments. He quickly became the top producer for his firm and, in less than one year, helped to propel it from the last producing company to the number three company for the local board of realtors. American Investments became the highest producing independent company in the valley.
By 1985 Brian had purchased the company, becoming the owner of his own real estate firm with offices in Camarillo, Ventura and Santa Paula. In 1989 he merged with Coldwell Banker, helping them to become the most successful real estate company in the area. With Brian's success, Coldwell Banker was capturing over 40% of the business of all the reported sales in the area.
In November of 1993, Brian left Coldwell Banker to start up the Santa Paula RE/MAX Gold Coast Realtors office, which he still manages. Thus, once again, starting from scratch and helping to build an office with no name recognition whatsoever, to be the most influential company in the county.
Brian was again recognized for his efforts last year when David Liniger, co-founder and owner of RE/MAX International, inducted Brian into the company's 100% Club. This award put Brian in an elite category ? one in which only a small percentage of Realtors nationwide have achieved. In fact, Brian?s production is probably close to four times over the national average of most real estate agents.
